Brindisi DOC

Brindisi DOC (Adda Editore) A Red or rosé table wine, at least 70% made of the cultivar Negramaro.
At a visual inspection, the red wine has a pale to rich ruby red colour, with a few orange flecks if aged; the flavour is rich, the taste is dry, well-balanced, with a bitter aftertaste, velvety and reasonably tannic. The Rosé is pink, verging on the pale cherry, in colour, the flavour is quite rich and persistent, fruity with some gentle notes of raspberry and blueberry, and the taste is dry, fairly soft and warm, poorly tannic, full-bodied and well-balanced. When aged 24 months, the alcoholic strength reaches 12 to 12.5 degrees.

Matches - How to consume it:

The red goes well with meat dishes and cheese, while the Rosé is to be drunk with fairly elaborate dishes, such as typically Mediterranean fish dishes, pasta with fish sauces, in particular eggs, mussels au gratin, mullet baked in foil. The best time to drink it is within two years of the harvest.

How to recognize it:

As well as mentioning the Registered Designation of Origin, the label must include all the information laid down by the law: native region; designation, in which the cultivar from which the wine comes is matched to the geographical area in which it is grown; nominal volume of the wine; bottler’s name or corporate name and address; bottler’s number and code; country; batch number; ecological information.

The area of Brindisi has a rich, well-established wine-making tradition, that began in the Mycenaean age and was particularly popular during the Imperial age.
